Wondering about the sounds of sirens and helicopters in Hayes Valley last night? They marked the conclusion of a high-speed freeway chase, in which police arrested two suspects in a fatal shooting in San Mateo.

According to ABC7, a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times last night around 7pm, in a parking lot near San Mateo's Hillsdale Shopping Center. He died of his injuries at the scene, and not long after, San Mateo police and the highway patrol followed a suspect's car driving at "high speeds" north on Highways 280, 380, and 101. The chase ended near Market & Octavia, where police detained the car's driver and a passenger.
