The long-delayed, oft-troubled Haight Street infrastructure improvement project, lately delayed in the wake of another gas line rupture, is slated to carry on this week, according to DPW spokesperson Alex Murillo.

As always, the timeline is pending any interruptions and unforeseen delays, but as of today, here's what you can expect.

Starting this week, the city will be installing water line laterals (perpendicular to Haight Street) between Lyon and Masonic; the Department of Public Works has promised to notify residents and businesses whose water service will be impacted in advance of the work.

Also this week, and scheduled to wrap up by the week of October 21st, water main work will begin at the Ashbury intersection of Haight Street.

Murillo added, "Crews continue localized sewer lateral and culvert replacement work on Haight Street. The sewer lateral replacement locations vary along Haight Street. The culvert work is typically located at the intersections."

Work will continue into next week with scattered parking closures, although next week's work isn't expected to affect sewer service.

Beginning the week of October 17th, when Upper Haight crews will be wrapping up work in the Haight and (hopefully) have the water main completed by October 21st, contractors will be closing up trenches in the Lower Haight around Scott and Buchanan, with parking spaces and bus stops in the Lower Haight impacted.

Beginning October 24th, crews will be moving over to the Hayes Street corridor, between Scott and Divisadero, for work on sewer mains.

Stay tuned for further closures and updates; we'll keep you posted.
