Haight Street's Ashbury Tobacco Center Now Dealing In Used ElectronicsPhoto: Amy Stephenson/ Hoodline

You might have noticed that Ashbury Tobacco Center, the smoke shop near the Haight & Ashbury intersection, now sports a bright blue banner reading "Ashbury Tech."

The smoke shop, a longtime fixture in the famed Jimi Hendrix Red House, has integrated buying, selling, and repairing used electronics into its repertoire. We spoke with Mark Zeidan, owner of Haight Ashbury Tobacco, who explained the new setup.

The tech center will be a permanent part of the existing business going forward, Zeidan explained. The shop attained a secondhand dealer's license about two weeks ago, and is now buying and selling used electronics and accoutrements, as well as repairing Macbooks and iPhones.

The shop will also sell accessories like headphones and chargers, and buy back old electronics for parts.

"We specialize in Macbooks," Zeidan said. "We can repair any Macbook."

The Haight retail corridor hasn't had an electronics shop since CeX (1439 Haight) closed in 2014. Until now, the closest dealer and repair shop was Fix My Phone SF in Cole Valley. Enjoy the shorter commute!
