Around 6am this morning, residents awoke to the sound of multiple SFFD and emergency sirens near the intersection of Noe and 19th streets. The vehicles were responding to a fire in a home that appeared to be undergoing renovations.

When we arrived around 6:10am, a neighbor told us that he had called 911 after smelling smoke. Half a dozen fire engines and emergency vehicles were present, and a fire engine ladder had been extended on top of the home.

The fire appeared to be contained in short order, but we've contacted SFFD for more information. We'll update this story with any additional details we find out.
Update, 9:13am: SFFD spokesman John Baxter lets us know that the fire was not structural in nature: it was a garbage fire inside a stairwell, and was quickly extinguished.
