Chococo Brings Japanese And Korean Fashion To 6th & ClementPhoto: Leah Tassinari/Hoodline

The newest sartorial addition to inner Clement Street is Chococo, which is open following a soft launch late last month at the corner of Clement and 6th Avenue.

The store replaces Puli Trading, the jewelry store that shuttered earlier this year at 455 Clement St.

What was once a cramped space now features modern décor that borders on the edge of cutesy, with whimsical cloud light fixtures that highlight the array of Japanese and Korean designer duds lined up along green turf aisles.

Two main racks are jam-packed with style: a row of white shirts and blouses anchor the collection as the only basics, and quirky separates make up the rest. You might recognize some labels, such as Laundry, but the rest are obscure designers that are ‘very popular over there in malls and magazines,’ according to the salesperson.

There are on-trend fuzzy sweaters in a rainbow array of colors for the coming winter; skirts, dresses, and trousers with unique fabrics and bold prints for workdays; and party clothes to go out in, as well as a few pieces of outerwear. There are also plenty of accessories on offer, from shoes and handbags to lingerie, makeup and skincare.

The store isn't the first for the owners, who we were unable to reach for comment; the salesperson we spoke to said they also have a store open in Cupertino. "So far," she said, "it's good. It's going well." She also informed us that there will be a second floor, eventually, with more clothing and accessories.

Chococo is continuing to celebrate its soft opening with a 15 percent off the entire store's merchandise while it waits for official signage to go up.

For now, it's open Tuesday through Sunday, 11am-7:30pm.
