Many locals were dismayed by the news of a machete attack that occurred at the Civic Center BART/Muni station on Friday, January 6th. Now, the SFPD is asking for the public's help in identifying the man who is believed to have committed the attack. 

The incident occurred around 8:40pm that evening, when the suspect slashed a 29-year-old Valencia, CA man with the machete, causing serious injuries to his head and hand. 

Police describe the suspect as a light-complexioned black male, 30 to 40 years of age, 5’11”, and 200 pounds. The photos of him shown here were obtained from security footage in the station.
