If you've got Thai on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Called Chana Thai Kitchen, the fresh addition is located at 8739 SW 136th St.

A spinoff of popular NYC-based Thai spot SriPraPhai, the sleek, modern restaurant offers both Thai food and sushi. Popular Thai dishes include curry puffs, red curry with Thai eggplant, and khao soi, a northern Thai egg noodle soup. On the sushi side, there are a variety of creative rolls, like the Mango Tango with mango, tempura salmon, cream cheese, and avocado.

Thai iced tea and iced coffee and Thai-style desserts, from doughnuts to ice cream, round out the menu. For the moment, no alcohol is served.

Chana Thai Kitchen has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.

Lori K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 6th, said: "Great new sushi/Thai restaurant near the Falls. You have to try the katsuramuki (tuna wrapped with cucumber), firecracker tuna (crispy rice with tuna), and and the Chana sushi tacos! Amazing!"

Yelper George B. added: “New place, tried for first time. We had the tom kha gai soup, curry puff appetizers, and tofu pad thai. Pluses: beautiful layout with all new materials, and lots of space between tables."

And Manny F. said: "The Tom Yung Ghan soup was delicious. Pad Thai was a bit bland, but overall the food was good and pretty authentic."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Chana Thai Kitchen is open Friday and Saturday from 11:30am–11pm, and Sunday–Thursday from 11:30am–10pm.
