While the Patriot Prayer rally in Crissy Field and the counterprotests around the city will draw many this weekend, here are some alternatives for the days ahead.

Start the weekend by acting like a kid with lasers and electromagnets at this week's Exploratorium After Dark event tonight. Then, head out to grab a bite with tastemakers at Eat Drink SF in Fort Mason, or test your skeeball skills in the Mission.

Pancakes and happy hour finally come together with Friday night's boozy art show in SoMa. Saturday welcomes a dog-friendly flea market on Treasure Island, the Goethe Institute's anniversary celebration in Chinatown and a 3x3 basketball competition at Justin Herman Plaza.

Wrap up the weekend with the sights and sounds of the Pakistan Independence Day Celebration, a paper airplane challenge in Japantown, an arcade game open play day in SoMa, or gnaw on a free turkey leg while watching the season finale of "Game of Thrones" in the Marina.

Here's the rest of your roundup for the busy days ahead:

Thursday, August 24

Friday, August 25

Saturday, August 26

Sunday, August 27
