MAU (Modern Asian Urban)—the popular Vietnamese restaurant located at 655 Valencia St. in the Mission—recently announced that it would shut down operations due to an unforeseen rent hike. Its last day was supposed to be September 30th.
Now, Paolo Lucchesi of the Chronicle reports the closure will only be temporary. A new sign on the window indicates that the restaurant has brokered a deal with the landlord to remain open.
“Our landlord reached out to us and we were able to come to an agreement to continue on,” the note reads. “We will close temporarily to regroup, but expect us back in business end of October/early November.”

It's not clear what the regrouping entails, but fans of the eatery will be pleased to learn they'll still be able to get their fix of phở bò and báhn mì sometime later this year.
We've reached out to MAU for more details, and once we hear of an expected reopening date, we'll let you know.
