Here's a recap of recent criminal activity in the South of Market area since our last summary. Unless otherwise noted, all incidents were reported in the police department's daily blotter.
Man pepper-sprayed, robbed
At 2:00am on October 22nd, an unknown suspect pepper sprayed a 29-year-old man and robbed him of his watch, jewelry and credit cards.
The victim was walking by a parking lot at the 500 block of Howard street when the incident occurred. No description of the suspect is known and no arrest was made. The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Fire at 4th Street business
A fire broke out at a business at the 1300 block of 4th street on October the 22nd at 12:20am. The report states that security guards smelled smoke and discovered that the doors on the 3rd floor had been lit on fire.
SFFD was called in to extinguish the fire and took over the investigation. No one was injured and no description of a suspect is known.
Argument leads to serious head injury
A 64-year-old man received life-threatening injuries during an argument with a 35-year-old male suspect at 11:48pm on October 21st.
The suspect and the victim were arguing at 7th and Bryant streets, and during the altercation, the victim fell off the curb and hit his head. He was hospitalized with his injuries and the suspect was arrested. According to police, the victim is still in critical condition.
Multiple suspects mug man in wheelchair
Around 2:00am on October 18th, three suspects, all described as 30-year-old males, shoved a 58-year-old man from his wheelchair and stole his phone.

Armed robbery over cell phone
A 31-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint and injured at the 100 block of Beale Street at 10:17pm on October 12th. The victim was walking when the suspect, a 25 to 30-year-old man approached him and pointed a gun at him, demanding the victim's cell phone.
The suspect then struck the victim with the gun and fled on foot northbound on Beale Street towards Mission Street. The victim was not hospitalized, and no arrest has been made.
Thief assaults construction worker over power tools
On October 12th at 6:06am, a 48-year-old man was robbed of his tool bag at 3rd Street and Berry Street.
The report states that the victim was working at a construction site when a45-year-old male suspect grabbed his bag containing power tools. The victim and the suspect struggled before the perpetrator struck the victim with a rope and fled with the tools.
No arrest has been made, and the victim was not injured in the struggle.
