Looking for a new bar to check out? Look no further than this new arrival. Called Damen Tavern, the new addition is located at 701 N Damen Ave. (between Superior St. & Huron St.) in West Town.
The new pub in the former Bar DeVille space comes from the owners of Lincoln Park drinkeries Hook & Ladder and Halligan. After major renovations, the space where the dance floor used to be has been replaced by a second bar, and the pool table has been removed to make way for new booth-style seating.
Described as "the essence of a neighborhood bar," the tavern offers a full selection of beer, wine, and mixed drinks, but no food.
With a three-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Damen Tavern has received mixed feedback—but it's still early days.
Katie M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 28th, said: "Great time, great drinks! Nice spot to watch football, and Alexis was great and definitely took care of us!"
Yelper Shannon H. added: “It's kind of a weird mix of a bro/sports bar and a 30s themed speakeasy. The beer is tasty and a decent selection and also affordable."
And Bryan P. wrote: "Great drinks, vibe, speakers, and drink list. Very nice bartenders."
