Looking to chow down on some poke? A new spot has you covered. The fresh addition to The Loop, called Pokéworks, is located at 79 E. Madison St. (between Michigan Ave. & Garland Ct.)
The Pokéworks chain—which has locations throughout the U.S. and Canada—specializes in Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls, sushi burritos, and salads.
On the menu, expect to see signature poke bowls like the "Hawaiian Classic" with ahi tuna, green and sweet onions, seaweed, and cucumber; shiso salmon with edamame, onions, sesame seeds, and ponzu sauce; and spicy ginger chicken with cilantro.
You can also build your own bowl, burrito, or salad by selecting a protein like tuna, shrimp, scallops, or tofu, and then mixing your choice of a variety of toppings and veggies, like seaweed, jalapeños, crispy garlic, fried lotus root, and more. (You can check out the full menu here.)
The new arrival has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Mazen Z., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 3rd, said: "It's nice to finally have a poke bowl/poke burrito place in the Loop. I went for the first time today, and was not disappointed. Friendly staff explained the menu options."
And Kiyoshi M. said: "Just opened today at this location and I'm pretty excited as it's on the ground floor of my building. Typically, I've been going to Poke Poke about a block and a half away, but I'm glad this contender arose."
