A new wine bar and New American spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called The Late Bloomer, the new arrival is located at 1538 N Clybourn Ave. (between Weed St & Halsted St) in River North.
This new spot has an extensive menu and features a variety of brunch, lunch, and dinner selections.
On the brunch and lunch menu, look for items like monkey bread with toffee pour-over sauce and pecans, bananas foster waffles with caramelized bananas, an "Early Riser Omelet" with crimini mushrooms, spinach, and goat cheese; a short rib meatloaf sandwich on Texas toast; and the "North Branch Burger," with roasted onions and shallot mayo.
Switching over to dinner, expect to see items like a "Hearth Roast Chicken" with potato mash; roasted Atlantic salmon with navy beans and veggies; and a roasted beet pizza with caramelized onions, arugula and pesto.
Rounding things out is a full bar featuring mimosas, bloody Marys, and signature cocktails like the "Homecoming," with Buffalo Trace bourbon, orange bitters, and luxardo cherry. (You can check out the full menu here.)
With a five-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp so far, The Late Bloomer has already made a good impression.
Dave S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 4th, said: "Great brunch vibes! Beautifully decorated space with cool lighting. Lots of greenery. Not overly loud. The food is on point. The monkey bread is an amazing starter. The meatloaf punches above its price point."
Yelper Cera S. added: “Super cute decor, excellent service, and and really well priced for the quality. A no-brainer brunch spot! The tahini and miso salads are excellent. Will definitely be back!”
