If you've got healthy fare like juices and smoothies on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Called Native, the new addition is located at 163 2nd St. (between Natoma St. & Minna St.) in SoMa.

This new spot—which has locations in Oakland and San Rafael—specializes in smoothies, salads, coffee, teas, and toasts.

On the smoothie menu, expect to see items like "You've Got Kale" with pineapple, banana, coconut milk, and coconut water; and "Popeye on Vacation in Thailand" with mango, spinach, ginger, and mint. You can add supplements as well like spirulina, plant-based protein power, and sunflower butter.

For salads and toasts, look for the "Native" with baby greens, beets, pickled red onion, and crispy quinoa in a mustard lemon dressing; smashed avocado with pain au levain, maldon sea salt, lemon zest, micro greens, and chili flakes; and a chicken sandwich with goat cheese, cucumber, and arugula.

Rounding things out is coffee by Bicycle Coffee and Leaves & Flowers teas. (You can check out the full menu here.)

With a 4.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Native seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Jill C., among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 13th, said: "Very happy to have Native open near my office. Light and bright space and the staff was very friendly. I tried the You've Got Kale smoothie and it was very filling and tasty."

Yelper Jessica T. added: “I stopped into this new Native location to pick up a vegan treat for a visiting co-worker. Though Native doesn't carry baked vegan desserts, their Sunshake will not only satisfy any chocolate craving you may have, it will also amp you up just as much as any cup of strong coffee."

Native is open weekdays from 7am–4:30pm, closed weekends.
