'My Favorite' Brings Gifts, Home Goods To The Upper HaightPhotos: Camden Avery/Hoodline

The newest addition to the Haight's retail landscape is My Favorite, a gift and home goods shop. It opened quietly this weekend in the former home of Piper's Shoe Parlor at 1682 Haight St.

Co-owner Mattias Karlsson, who owns the business with Sharon Lacazo, said that the venture is the company's first foray into brick-and-mortar retail. The pair has years of experience running the company as an online San Francisco-based gift wholesaler.

In addition to carrying their own wares, Karlsson said that the shop is bringing in select lines of gifts, home goods, toys, greeting cards, and books—something, he said, for the whole family.

The Haight is a "creative neighborhood," Karlsson said. "You get the feeling anything goes. We've been wanting to do this for years."

Although the opportunity for the Haight St. store came available sooner than they were expecting, they decided to get off and running to beat the holiday rush before year's end.

Until now, he said the company has been limited to wholesale business and fairs and markets, so the pair is excited to offer more goods on an ongoing basis.

"This is not a pop-up," Karlsson confirmed, saying they'd be fleshing out inventory and offerings over the coming weeks.

Although a date has not been set, they're gunning for a holiday opening party in the coming weeks.
