This is a recap of recent criminal activity in the South of Market area since our last summary a month ago. All incidents were reported in the police department's daily blotter unless otherwise noted.
Man punched, loses consciousness during robbery
At 1:30am on December 3rd, a 23-year-old man was injured and lost consciousness during a robbery at the 500 Block of Howard Street. Multiple unknown suspects punched the victim and knocked him unconscious. The victim woke up at a later point and realized that his wallet was missing. No other information on the incident is available and no arrests have been made.
Man attacked with hammer
A 31-year-old male victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries during an assault on December 2nd. At 3:15pm, at the 600 block of Minna Street, the victim saw a 40-year-old male suspect attempting to sell the victim's property. The victim tried to retrieve his property, but the suspect struck the victim with a hammer and fled the scene. No arrest was made in the assault. The victim was hospitalized for his injuries.
73-year-old man assaulted on bus
At 11:50am at 11th and Harrison streets, a 73-year-old man was injured and hospitalized after an aggravated assault that took place on November 29th. As the victim was exiting a bus, a 60-year-old female suspect trying to board hit the victim, causing him to fall and sustain non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. No arrest was made in the incident.
Man robbed while waiting for ride
On November 20th at 3:10am, a 22-year-old man was assaulted during a robbery. Two male suspects in their 20s approached the victim as he waited for a ride on the corner of 3rd and Mission streets. The suspects assaulted the victim and took his property, then fled in an unknown direction. No arrest has been made.
Multiple suspects rob man on 4th Street
On November 19th, at 1:20am, multiple suspects assaulted and robbed a 29-year-old man on Mission and 4th Streets. The suspects, described as three male teenagers between 15 and 16 years of age, approached the victim, assaulted him and took his wallet and cell phone. No weapon was involved in the incident. All three suspects fled the scene; no arrests were made. The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Suspect arrested in bus robbery
A 34-year-old woman was injured during a strong-arm robbery near 10th and Mission Street on November 12th. At 11:38pm, the victim was on the bus when a 36-year-old female suspect approached the victim and punched her. The victim ran off the bus, leaving her bag, which the suspect then took. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect. The victim was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
Parking spot argument escalates into assault, robbery
On November 12th, two male suspects in their 20s violently robbed a 28-year-old man after an argument over a parking spot near Howard and 7th streets. One suspect assaulted the victim, then took his phone and necklace. The suspects then fled northbound on 7th Street in a vehicle. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No arrest was made, and no description of the vehicle is available.
Man hospitalized after mandolin assault
On November 9th at 5:45am, a 40-year-old male suspect assaulted and robbed a 35-year-old man on the 1100 block of Howard Street. The suspect took a mandolin from the victim and hit him with it, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The suspect continued to assault the victim and took the victim’s money, then then fled the scene. No arrest was made in the incident. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Suspects arrested after robbery with BB gun
On 3rd and Mission streets on November 8th, three suspects—described as two 20 year-old men and one 18 year-old man—robbed two teenagers with a BB gun at 7:45pm. The suspects approached the victims, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, with the first suspect pressing a BB gun against the 15-year-old victim. The suspect then went through the victim's pockets and took his money. The suspects walked away as the second victim followed behind. At some point, the suspects dropped their gun. One victim sustained non-life- threatening injuries during the robbery. The suspects were arrested.
