An unknown assailant shot a woman with an air gun early this morning in SoMa, police have reported.
Just after 3am on the unit block of 6th Street, a 41-year-old woman was standing in a bus shelter when a male suspect rode up on a bicycle, shouted at her and shot her with an air gun.
The suspect fled northbound on 6th Street and was not arrested; police transported the victim to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An air gun typically fires small pellet-sized rounds. Unlike a more powerful firearm, projectiles are launched using pressurized gas (as opposed to gunpowder) and are usually less lethal.
