Here's a roundup of notable crimes reported in the Tenderloin since our last edition. All details are drawn from SFPD daily reports, unless otherwise noted.

Man robbed after accepting ride home

At 1:30am on March 9th, a woman said to be in her twenties offered a 33-year-old man a ride home to the 400 block of Ellis Street (near Jones). After exiting the vehicle, the man was approached by a suspect in his forties who claimed to have a gun and demanded the victim hand over his computer.

The victim complied and both suspects fled—the woman in the vehicle and the man on foot—in unknown directions.

Man stabbed with unknown sharp object 

On March 7th around 10:00am on the 100 block of 6th street (near Mission), a suspect around 60 years old swung at and stabbed a 36-year-old man with a sharp object.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and the suspect has not been identified.  

Man punched, robbed from behind

A 37-year-old-man was walking on the 900 block of Market Street (near 5th) at 9:45pm on March 6th when two men in their mid-twenties approached him from behind and punched him.

The suspects stole the victim’s backpack, including his phones and tablet, and fled east on Market. No arrests have been made. 

Man stabbed after refusing to move

Around 2:00pm on March 6th, a 20-year-old man was approached by a man in his thirties at the intersection of Hyde and Turk streets. The older man wanted the suspect to move out of his way, and when the victim refused, the suspect stabbed him in the neck. The suspect remains at large. 

Wallet and keys recovered after robbery

At 6:30pm on March 5th, a 31-year-old man forcefully robbed a 28-year-old man of his car keys and wallet near the intersection of Leavenworth and Turk streets.

The suspect was later arrested and the victim’s keys and wallet were recovered, but he lost an unspecified amount of money. 

Two arrested after attacking man with pepper spray and wooden pole

A 39-year-old man walked into a store on the unit block of 6th Street (near Market) around 10:30am on March 5th and got into a verbal argument with a 47-year-old man, who started punching him.

A second man, aged 40, pepper sprayed the victim and started beating him with a wooden pole. The suspects continued hitting the man after he fell to the ground, but were later arrested. 

Man arrested after stabbing attack

Just before 3:00pm on March 4th, a 22-year-old man became angry and stabbed a 47-year-old man with a knife near the intersection of Market and 6th streets. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect was later arrested. 

Robber uses pepper spray to steal wallet and money

A man said to be in his sixties walked up to a 37-year-old man around 7:25am on March 4th, pepper sprayed him, robbed him of his wallet and money, and fled from the 330 block of Golden Gate Avenue (near Hyde Street). The suspect has not been identified.

Uncooperative victim stabbed with unknown sharp object

Police found a 27-year-old man near the intersection of Market and McAllister streets around 2:30pm on March 3rd who had been stabbed with a sharp object by a suspect in his twenties who had fled the scene. The victim was uncooperative and no arrest has been made.

Three men attack victim with board

At 1:00am on February 28th, a 51-year-old man was near the intersection of Polk and Eddy streets when three suspects approximately 19 years old confronted him and hit him with a board. No arrest has been made, and the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

Man robbed by two after refusing to surrender property

A 30-year-old man was approached by two suspects in their early twenties on the 400 block of Jessie Street (near Mission) around 10:15pm on February 25th. One suspect demanded the victim hand over his phone. When the victim refused, the suspect hit him and stole his cellphone before both suspects fled.

Bicyclist robs man of cellphone

A 30-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk near the intersection of Ellis and Market streets when a 33-year-old man rode up on a bike, shoved him, and stole his cellphone before riding away. Police tracked the victim’s cellphone to Yerba Buena Center and arrested the suspect.
