A new cafe has debuted in the Palisades neighborhood. Called Black Coffee, it's located at 4885 MacArthur Blvd. N.W.
It's also the latest venture of Jeff and Barbara Black, the team behind Black Restaurant Group. Residing on the same block as their seafood market and grill BlackSalt, Black Coffee serves a range of caffeinated beverages, as well as sweet treats, and savory breakfasts and hearty lunches.
At the counter you'll find hot espresso drinks, cold brew, drip coffee and tea.
From the kitchen on Tuesdays through Fridays, you can order dishes like Greek yogurt with spiced fruit compote or steak frites with house-made french fries, pea greens and cabernet jus sauce. Weekend brunch features specials like chilaquiles and buttermilk waffles.
While developing the concept last summer, the Black's told Washingtonian that their new cafe would be "approachable and family friendly."
With a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, it seems neighbors already agree with that sentiment.
David S., one of the first Yelpers to view Black Coffee, called it "pretty much perfect."
He added: "Coffee is professionally done, food is surprisingly refined but suitably priced, decor is nice balance between casual and up-scale, location is great with easy parking, hours are extensive, and the owners are there a lot to make sure everything is right."
And Tom F. noted, "Menu is limited, but food is excellent. Waitstaff are most hospitable and give great service."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Black Coffee is open from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
