Popular Shaw pizza spot All Purpose has debuted a second location on the Capitol Riverfront close to Nationals Park. The new arrival is located at 79 Potomac Ave. SE (between S. Half and S. 1st streets) in Capitol Hill.

“I want to revisit the true Italian-American pizzerias and trattorias of the 1950s and ‘60s. We are trying to recreate the red checker-cloth red sauce joints back in the day,” chef and co-founder Mike Friedman told Eater DC.

Guests can expect to find a few of the same menu items as at the original Shaw location, but many of the pies are new, including the Bushwick (parm fonduta, portobello mushroom, red onion, thyme, Sicilian hot sauce) and the Rockaway, a clam-topped tribute to the beach. (Check out the full menu here.)

With a 4.5-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp so far, All Purpose has already made a good impression.

Thomas D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 9, said, "The pickled vegetables, usually over-brined garbage from a jar, were made in house and were absolutely delicious. Ditto the cherry peppers. The burrata was so fresh it must've been made that day."

Yelper Elizabeth M. added, “The drinks are awesome, as is the food. The calamari breading has polenta mixed in it, so it's a unique flavor, and the garlic aioli like sauce served with it is amazing.  A pizza is perfect to split between two people, I highly recommend the Bushwick pizza.”

And Laura W. said, "Despite there being some hiccups, just like at the original [All Purpose], I enjoyed my meal and would definitely return here again!"

Head on over to check it out: All Purpose is open from 4 p.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 4 p.m.–11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
