Time for another look at notable crimes reported in the Castro since our last roundup. Unless otherwise noted, all details are from SFPD reports.

Castro's Daddy's Barbershop burglarized

The Bay Area Reporter reported that Daddy's Barbershop had its window smashed and was burglarized overnight on April 28. Located near 19th and Castro, more than $5,000 in equipment was stolen.

At 9:26 p.m. on April 27, four male suspects in their early twenties stole a 40-year-old man's backpack at Dolores Park. The victim confronted the suspects, and one suspect cut him with a knife.

After the victim retrieved his belongings and the suspects fled the scene, the injured man was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Intruder arrested in Castro home

Duboce robbery leads to struggle

At 2:37 p.m. on March 29, a 55-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man in his late twenties near Duboce and Fillmore. The man attempted to grab her purse, resulting in a struggle. The suspect was unable to get her purse, but grabbed the victim's phone from her hand and fled on foot. No arrest was made.

Safety barriers added after Uber driver gets stuck on Safeway stairs

Around 1:30 p.m. on March 26, a man driving an Uber with two passengers attempted to exit the Church and Market Safeway and got his vehicle stuck on the parking lot's stairs. Police officers arrived at the scene and no citation was offered. The vehicle was soon towed.

While the driver claimed that his GPS led to his car being stuck, an Uber representative found otherwise after an internal investigation.

No injuries were reported; on March 30, workers installed safety barricades  in the area.

Early morning assault leads to arrest

At 2 a.m. on March 14, a 49-year-old man was in his car near 14th and Sanchez when another man, 47, attempted to open his car door. The driver chased the younger man, punching him and knocking him to the ground, where he continued to assault him. Police arrived, arrested the driver, and transported the other man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone who has information about any of these incidents is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
