Here's a selection of crimes that have occurred in the area since our last roundup in early April. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted. 

Mugger steals woman's purse, backpack

On May 1 at 8:50 p.m. on the 300 block of Haight St., a man in his late twenties approached a 27-year-old woman and struck her. While she was incapacitated, he stole her backpack, purse, clothing and a tablet.

The victim was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries, and the suspect was not arrested.

Victim dragged by car after collision

On April 29 at 6:30 p.m., a 20-year-old driver struck a car belonging to a 59-year-old man on the 400 block of Fell Street before fleeing the scene. The older man chased the car and caught up to the driver. 

When he exited his vehicle to talk to the suspect and get his details, the younger man drove off, briefly dragging the victim until he was eventually thrown off. The suspect successfully fled the scene, and the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Early-morning assault on worker

On April 29, a 63-year-old man who was working on the 500 block of Van Ness Avenue was opening a rear door to admit a co-worker around 4 a.m. when he was jumped by a suspect in his late twenties.

The suspect punched the victim several times before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Robbery suspect escapes on bicycle

On April 28, at 11:45 p.m., a 33-year-old man was approached by a suspect in his early thirties near Ellis and Franklin who threatened him before wrestling his bag away.

Afterwards, the suspect fled southbound with the victim's laptop and phone on Gough Street on his bicycle.

Burglar crawls into apartment through window

On April 27 around 7:45 p.m., a 62-year-old woman heard a noise in her apartment on the 1200 block of Turk St. When she looked out the window, she saw an unknown man crawling out of another room in her apartment.

The resident went into another room and discovered a laptop as well as a cellphone went missing. 

At home, man man realizes he was stabbed

On April 21 at 6:25 a.m., a 33-year-old man was walking on Laguna Street when he felt pain. After arriving home, he realized that he'd been stabbed with a sharp object.

The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Man offers free car ride, robs woman

On April 18 in the early morning hours, a 35-year-old man pulled up next to a 58-year-old woman at the corner of Laguna and Ellis streets and offered her a ride to her car. Once she got inside the vehicle, however, the suspect drove her to a dead end street and talked about having sex.

The woman refused and was able to exit the suspect's vehicle, but he punched her and stole her purse containing her ID, a cellphone and car keys. She suffered non-life threatening injuries from the encounter.

Robber snatches laptop out of woman's hands

On April 13 around 9:16 a.m., a male suspect snatched a laptop from a 37-year-old woman at Buchanan and Waller streets. The suspect fled westbound on Waller Street and was not arrested, and the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Northern Station monthly community meeting

Residents interested in learning learn more about crime and safety in the neighborhood are invited to attend Northern Station's community meetings,  held at the station (1125 Fillmore St.) at 6pm on the second Thursday of each month.

Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association public safety meeting

The next public safety meeting will take place tonight at 7pm at the Korean American Center, 745 Buchanan St. At the meeting, assistant district attorney Asha Jameson will provide updates from the District Attorney's office.
