If you've got modern Italian on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Saba Italian Kitchen + Bar, named for an Italian syrup, has opened its doors at 2715 N. Milwaukee Ave. (at North Sawyer Avenue) in Logan Square.

The cozy restaurant with bright lighting, black decor and plenty of greenery features traditional Italian dishes with a contemporary twist. On the menu, offerings include several shareable small plates, beet salad, house-made pizzas, pastas and classics like penne with vodka sauce and eggplant parmesan with citrus gremolata. A full bar is also available with signature cocktails, Italian cream sodas and a selection of wines.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp so far, Saba Italian Kitchen + Bar seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Danielle R., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 24, said, "Everything was delightful from the staff, to the cocktails, to the dinner and dessert! This place is a do-not-miss, get it on your list!"

And Katie A. said, "Stopped by Saba tonight with a couple friends and left full and very satisfied. The meatballs were rich and flavorful, tagliatelle pasta had us scraping the bowl and the lamb pizza was deliciously creative. Staff was knowledgeable and attentive and the food arrived quickly."

Head on over to check it out: Saba Italian Kitchen + Bar is open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 4 p.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
