A new used bookstore and library focused on fostering social justice has made its debut in the neighborhood. Located at 2533 16th Ave. S on Beacon Hill, the fresh addition is called Estelita's Library.

On its Facebook page, the bookstore says it offers books on social justice, ethnic studies and liberation movements, with plans for meetings, classes and book talks "to strengthen and develop our collective analysis for justice." Yearly memberships (from $30-$50) are available for those looking to borrow books.

Edwin Lindo, who is involved with groups on the political left, named the store after his infant daughter and wants Estelita's to be an atmosphere where people can have conversations about social issues and get inspired, per City Arts Magazine

The shop is lined with books from Lindo's personal collection and community donations. Alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks are also available.

Estelita's Library has just one review on Yelp, which gives it a five-star rating thus far.

Estell W., who reviewed the new spot on May 19, wrote, "My all-time favorite neighborhood hangout. Great vibes, greatest vision and mission. There is a sliding scale annual membership fee. Very rare books and specifically curated with books focused on social justice."
