Spatch Peri-Peri Grilled Chicken opens new location in Flagler VillagePhoto: Ron J./Yelp

A new chicken shop has opened its doors in Flagler Village. Called Spatch Peri-Peri Grilled Chicken, the fresh arrival is located at 468 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale and has a second location in Coral Ridge.

The eatery specializes in spatchcocked — split and flattened — chicken that is marinated for a full day in spicy peri-peri sauce (made with African bird's eye chiles) and grilled over open flames.

Spatch serves up chicken salads, bowls, sandwiches and platters. Look for menu options like the classic Spatch with chickpeas, feta, tomato and oregano vinaigrette dressing; the Southwestern bowl with black beans, corn, avocado, tomato and chopped chicken with brown rice; or the pineapple chicken sandwich with thigh meat, grilled pineapple, cilantro and Spatch Peri-mayo.

Diners can also build their own meal by choosing the type of chicken meat (thigh, breast, wing), sauce flavor and side. See the full menu here.

With a three-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, Spatch has gotten a mixed response from its clientele.

Adam F., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 8, wrote, "Amazing food! What a great concept Spatch is! Get ultra-healthy organic chicken in a ton of different combinations, from wings to bowls to breasts and everything in between."

And Ricky M. wrote, "Good, real food, fast, whether you're looking for something quick and healthy after a workout, to indulge a bit or maybe an easy family meal. Don't forget to sauce it up too."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Spatch Peri-Peri Grilled Chicken is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
