Topping the list is Velvet Taco, a fast-casual Texas-based chain with three other Dallas outposts. Located at 3012 N. Henderson Ave., it's the most popular business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 2,336 reviews on Yelp.

On the menu, look for tacos like the Spicy Tikka Chicken (crispy tenders, spicy pepper sauce, buttered cilantro basmati rice, raita crema and Thai basil on a flour tortilla), the Cuban Pig (Gruyere cheese, slow-roasted pulled pork, shaved ham, peppered bacon, grain mustard and brined pickle on crisp flour tortilla) and the Shrimp and Grits (Creole mayo, blackened shrimp, pepper jack cheese grits, charred tomato poblano salsa and cilantro on a corn tortilla). (See the full menu here.)

George U., who reviewed it on July 19, wrote, "The best place to get tacos on a lazy Sunday. Such great ingredients and interesting flavors. Definitely a lighter version of tacos, not greasy or anything. Worth paying a little bit more for a taco upgrade."

2. Cafe Izmir

It serves up dishes like the falafel plate with chickpeas, herbs, spices, parsley and garlic sauce; the saffron chicken kebab; the Izmir meat dolmas (grape leaves stuffed with beef, rice and spices); and the baba ghanoush. (See the full menu here.)

Brent S. wrote, "This is a good tapas place. It's family operated and they make us feel like part of the family. We get the garlic hummus every time. I like the grilled veggies. The live music is enjoyable."

Steel City Pops, which serves a variety of ice pops, is another top choice. Yelpers give the shop, located at 2012 Greenville Ave., 4.5 stars out of 589 reviews.

Its pops are divided over three sections: fruity, creamy and cookie. Fruity pops, which are vegan and dairy free, include the Arnold Palmer, jasmine green tea and the cucumber lime. Creamy pops include peach cream, chai latte and horchata. For cookie pops, you've got banana pudding, coffee brownie and Key lime pie. (See the full menu here.)

Anne R. said, "These are completely delicious popsicles, even for cooler days here in Dallas. They have the really decadent [options] to more calorie conscious ones, [so there's] something for everyone. The pear one was perfect and seemed to last longer than your normal popsicle."

4. Botolino Gelato Artigianale

Botolino Gelato Artigianale, a spot to score gelato, cakes and more, is another much-loved neighborhood go-to, with five stars out of 162 Yelp reviews. Head over to 2116 Greenville Ave. to see for yourself.

Among its gelato flavors, you'll find mascarpone and figs, mint lemon sorbetto, berries and lavender, coconut stracciatella, dulce de leche, apple pie and more. (See all the flavors here.) Tiramisu and zuccotto cake are also on offer.

Maggie N., who reviewed it on July 10, said, "If you like authentic Italian gelato, this is the place for you. If you like artificial coloring and overly sweetened basic flavor gelato, go somewhere else. This is probably my favorite gelato place in Dallas. Love the mascarpone and figs flavor!"

Kayla V. said, "One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Texas! The service is prompt and the food is outstanding, not to mention the amazing margaritas. I love the atmosphere and being able to sit out on the porch. Couldn't say enough great things."
