A man who was walking in the South of Market neighborhood late on Friday night was wounded by gunfire from a passing car, according to police.

The shooting took place on the 800 block of Harrison Street between Fourth and Fifth streets around 11:46 p.m.

The victim, a 19-year-old male, told police that he was walking when a vehicle driven by an unknown suspect pulled up next to him and someone opened fire, striking him in the leg. After the shooting, the driver fled southbound on Fourth Street.

Police are still seeking the suspect, and the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
