Annie Firefly

Annie Firefly is a hair salon at Sola Salon Studios in Northgate that comes courtesy of stylist Annie Cambern.

The business offers services for both men and women, including hair bleaching, Brazilian blowouts, haircuts, color blends, highlights and express services. Check the website for more information or to schedule an appointment. 

Annie Firefly is off to a strong start with a current Yelp rating of five stars out of three reviews.

Yelper Olivia P., who reviewed the salon on Aug. 8, wrote, "I ruined my hair trying to bleach it myself, and that's how I met Annie. I didn't think I would ever love my hair again, but Annie's expertise and skill has completely turned my hair life around and I love it better than I ever have."

Joseph M. noted, "I have been going to Annie for almost 10 years. She's always professional and does a great job on my hair. I always feel pampered and the focus of her attention. I love her new place."

Celest Cafe

Celest Cafe is a gluten-free and vegan eatery that opened this summer after a successful Crowdfunding campaign raised the necessary funds for a brick-and-mortar location. 

Look for notable menu options like lasagna, cucumber salad, almond quiche with purple potatoes and roasted veggies and breakfast taco wraps with black beans. Thirsty? Grab an herbal tea, orange juice or cup of joe to pair with your fare. View the full menu here.

Celest Cafe is receiving positive attention with a current rating of 4.5 stars out of six reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Kelsey S., who reviewed it on Aug. 8, wrote, "I have been to Celest Cafe twice and have never had better vegan food. As a disclaimer, I am not vegan, but one of my good friends is so I end up eating a fair amount of vegan food."

Yelper Heather L. wrote, "I'm at Celest Cafe right now and just finished my food. The quiche was dynamite! But everything was delicious."

Celest Cafe is open from 5–9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday-Wednesday.)

Siam Bistro

Thai restaurant Siam Bistro offers a wide array of dishes including street food favorites like Thai-style barbecue pork with Chinese sausage and boiled egg and boat noodle soup in a dark broth with rice noodles.

The menu also features crispy golden duck served on a sizzling plate; Sriracha noodles with egg, bean sprouts and green onion; a stir-fry with fresh ginger and vegetables; and Khoa Kao Moo, which includes pork belly, egg and Chinese broccoli. Entrees like lemongrass chicken with garlic, white pepper and coriander seeds and Thai fried rice with cilantro, egg and onion are also on offer. Take a look at the menu options here.

Isabelle S., who reviewed the eatery on Aug. 8, wrote, "Found this place from Yelp and was intrigued by their Khao Moo Daeng (Thai barbecue pork over rice) since it looks like how they serve it in Southeast Asia. Definitely did not disappoint!"

Citizen Kids Club

Citizen Kids Club is a business offering camps and after-school programs for children ages 5-12. It is designed to be "a safe and stress-free environment for kids to hang out and explore their hobbies and interests," according to its website.

Different "hobby camps" are available: informal and fun environments used to stimulate children's social-emotional development. These camps have children interact with one another, tools and multimedia to enhance and foster self-regulated thinking and collaborative approaches to problem solving. 

It's still early days for Citizen Kids Club, which has just one review on Yelp thus far. 

Yelper Natasha A., who reviewed it on Aug. 8, wrote, "My son has attended a few clubs that have taught skills in camping, art and technology and has provided a safe haven for him to grow. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient and my son asks when he can return. I am very impressed with the variety of activities and the excitement my son has in being part of these clubs."

Citizen Kids Club is open from 8:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
