Wander over to 1301 E. Las Olas Blvd. in Colee Hammock and you'll find Sushi Shack, a new eatery that combines traditional American food with Japanese fusion dishes and sushi, as we recently reported.

Chef Takashi Nishioka, previously of Sushi Samba in Las Vegas, helms the sushi bar, while steaks, fresh seafood, sandwiches, burgers share space on the rest of the menu with potstickers and deep-fried oysters.

Poke Ice

Poke Ice, recently opened at 6214 N. Federal Highway in Imperial Point, is an eatery that combines two trendy foods: bowls of poke and Thai-style rolled ice cream, as we reported in September.

Diners can customize their bowls, or choose from preset options like classic poke, served with ahi tuna, sweet onion, cucumber and ponzu sauce. The rolled ice cream comes with a choice of toppings like lychee, mango and gummy bears. Yelpers are fans of Poke Ice: it's got five stars out of 11 reviews so far.

Finally, there's a new location of the national chain Charleys Philly Steaks at 2600 W. Broward Blvd. in Riverland. The restaurant, famous for its eponymous cheesesteaks, has recently made a pivot to including chicken wings on its menu, but this branch is still finding its feet, with 3.5 stars out of four reviews so far.
