Craving Cuban food? From authentic sandwiches and yucca fries to guava and cheese pastries, these top five spots in Ft. Lauderdale have your cravings covered.  

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Cuban spots around Fort Lauderdale, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to achieve your dreams.

1. 925 Nuevo's Cubano's

Topping the list is 925 Nuevo's Cubano's. Located at 925 N. Andrews Ave. in Progresso Village, the Cuban breakfast and brunch spot, which offers sandwiches and more, is the highest rated Cuban restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, boasting 4.5 stars out of 898 reviews on Yelp.

At this no-frills outdoor joint, expect to get your Cuban favorites served up fast. Platters of meat or salad come with sweet or fried plantains, black bean soup and rice. The menu also features breakfast omelettes, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and Cuban and American coffee. 

2. Colada

Next up is Flagler Heights's Colada, situated at 525 N. Federal Highway, Suite 400. With 4.5 stars out of 374 reviews on Yelp, this Cuban spot has proven to be a local favorite.

You'll find plenty of sweetness and spice in authentic Cuban dishes at this busy downtown spot. Favorites includes tres leches waffles with guava whipped cream, bacon-wrapped plantain maduros and the Midnight sandwich — ham, pork, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on sweet bread — with yucca fries.

3. Padrino's Cuban Cuisine

Lake Ridge's Padrino's Cuban Cuisine, located at 1135 N. Federal Highway, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the Cuban spot 4.5 stars out of 224 reviews.

"Our mission has been to provide our guests with my mother's authentic Cuban recipes," owner Mario Padrino writes on the company's website.  

The menu features a variety of salads, sandwiches and meaty entrees. Lunch specials are popular with locals and include favorites like crispy shredded beef quesadillas, rice with smoked chorizo and sweet plantains.

4. Porto Havana

Check out Porto Havana, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 46 reviews on Yelp. You can find this Cuban spot at 2979 W. Commercial Blvd.

This casual eatery offers classic Cuban dishes like carne con papas, chicharrones de pollo, and pork chunks served with plantains, rice and beans. 

5. Sunshine Bakery

And then there's Sunshine Bakery, a Riverland favorite with 4.5 stars out of 42 reviews. Stop by 2621 Davie Blvd. to hit up the bakery next time the urge for Cuban coffee and breakfast sweets strikes.

This is a popular spot for Sunday brunch, offering up Cuban coffee, guava and cheese pastries, an egg, ham and cheese sandwich, plus favorites like the bakery's croquetas and empanadas.
