If you've got traditional American on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 5880 State Highway 121, Suite 103B , the newcomer is called B. Frank and Relish. Describing itself as a boutique neighborhood eatery, it offers grilled entrees, burgers, salads and more.
Start with the mushroom thyme crositini, one of many shareable appetizers. Next, grab a pear and pecan salad. Main dishes include a smokey southern fried chicken topped with a smoky chipotle pickle and ancho sauce, or a seared hanger steak with green beans.
Go for a handcrafted cocktail to complement your meal, like the Fiery Pineapple Margarita, made with Jose Cuervo tequila, freshly muddled pineapple, freshly muddled jalapeño and serrano peppers, house-made sweet and sour, pineapple juice and 100 percent blue agave nectar. (Check out the full menu here.)
B. Frank and Relish has gotten off to an uneven start thus far, with a three-star rating out of 16 reviews on Yelp.
Linda K., who was among the first to review it on Nov. 15, wrote, "This place is rather new, probably still needs some work. The decor is nice, service was okay. They do offer complimentary smoked pickles in a chilled mason jar. ... The Wagyu beef hot dog was dry and the proportion to the bun was off."
Yelper Brandon Y., however, said, “The appetizers have lots of flavor. Had low expectations for the salmon and yellowtail because this is not a sushi restaurant. I was impressed with the quality and taste of the fish—better than a lot of sushi restaurants here in Dallas. Entrees came out right as we finished our appetizers—flavor was good on both steaks."
Head on over to check it out: B. Frank and Relish is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m.–11 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday.
