A Community Conversation: The Power of Public Monuments & Why They Matter

Tonight: Consider the significance of the Shaw 54th Memorial on the Boston Common, and the impact of public monuments on race, freedom and justice in the United States at a free panel at Tremont Temple Baptist Church. 

The bronze sculpture depicts Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry — the first organized African-American regiment organized from the northern states during the Civil War.

The panel, hosted by the committee aiming to renew the memorial, will be moderated by author, journalist and photographer Derrick Z. Jackson and feature a civil rights activist and historians.

Hip-Hop Yoga Session & Semi-Annual Sale at New Balance

Good Luck Comedy Show

Enjoy a bring-your-own-beverage night of stand-up comedy and tunes at the latest Good Luck Comedy show this Thursday night.

Performing on stage will be Tom Dustin, who's appeared on Comedy Central; Jason Cordova of New Yak City; Katlin McFee of Burning Bridges Comedy Fest; and Terence Pennington of Grime Time. 

DJ M.E. will also be on hand with hip-hop, R&B and old-school tunes.
