A new sushi bar and Japanese spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Located at 949 S. Federal Highway, the new arrival is called Phat Boy Sushi & Kitchen.

On the menu, look for sushi and sashimi combos; yakitori skewers ranging from chicken to pork belly; signature sushi rolls; and grilled entrees, like ribeye with shishito peppers and enoki mushrooms. Vegetarians also have choices, from miso-glazed eggplant to wok-fried udon noodles with mushrooms.

With a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp so far, the new sushi bar has already made a good impression.

Yelper Jordan Ilan L., who was the first to review the new spot on Dec. 29, wrote, “This was seriously the best sashimi I have had in years... from their uni to ikura to their hamachi belly and their wild salmon belly to their toro to the service received."

And David S. added, "The owner John is a great host. The food is amazing and the service was great. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Next time I will try the strawberry shortcake."

Head on over to check it out: Phat Boy Sushi & Kitchen is open from 11:30 a.m.–midnight daily.
