Catch On The Ave

Stroll past 2419 Mount Vernon Ave. in Del Ray and you'll find Catch On The Ave.

From the locally-based restaurant group that owns Mason Social, Augie’s Mussel House and Urbano 116, Catch on the Ave offers a seafood-focused menu that changes seasonally. The winter menu includes small plates like chili panko-breaded shrimp and smoked trout deviled eggs, and entrees like grilled whole fish, sautéed sea scallops and pecan-crusted mahi. There are a few non-seafood items as well, like grilled chicken and a roasted cabbage salad with andouille sausage and sandwiches. And don't neglect the extensive beer, wine and cocktail menu.

Now open at 301 Hooffs Run Drive, Suite 17, in Eisenhower East is The Laboratory: A Ruby Devine Salon.

Longtime local stylist Ruby Devine and her team promise "scientific innovation" in their approach to cuts and color. Book online for everything from a bang trim and a blow out to bridal styling and "The Full Monty" blonding service. Enjoy the free wifi, as well as access to a beer and wine bar.

Warby Parker

Finally, Warby Parker recently opened its doors at 805 King St. in Old Town. And with five stars out of seven reviews on Yelp, it's been a hit thus far.

The eyewear shop offers designed-in-house frames for both sunglasses and regular prescription specs. They are out on shelves, and not behind locked glass cases, so it's easy to try on as many as you like. Optometrists are on site to do eye exams, as well.
