A new lounge and Japanese and Asian fusion spot has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The newcomer to Little Haiti, called Kaido, is located at 151 N.E. 41st St., Unit 217.
The menu features small plates, crudos, robatayaki and more, along with desserts like the Graffiti Chocolate with dark cherry, black sesame and tamari soy. A selection of sake and whiskey is available, as well as wines, beers and many signature cocktails. Try the Kaido Pickleback, a shot of Japanese whiskey with a shot of shitake brine. At night, the upper level becomes a dance club. (Check it out here.)
With a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh arrival is getting solid feedback from clientele.
Lulu K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Dec. 28, wrote, "A party of six sampled 11 plates that included the crab rangoon, arancini, chicken wings, uni fondue, summer roll, Korean short ribs, enoki mushroom and a few raw fish items. Everything rocked our tastebuds."
Yelper Michael S. added, “I tend to temper hyperbole. So it's sincerely measured that I assert that chef Kilgore's Floridian Fugu is a Michelin Star-worthy plate."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Kaido is open from 7 p.m.–midnight on Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, and 7 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday.)
