Crime incidents in Tysons saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 51 for the week of January 14, down from 56 the week before.

The overall decrease in crime reports was led by theft and assault. Theft fell to 22 incidents last week, from 26 the week before. Assault went from five to two.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, shootings went from zero to one.

There were 26 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of six from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, six involved arrests, such as for drug possession, the same number as the week before.

Regarding day and time factors, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays witnessed the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Thursdays, while incidents on Fridays, Mondays and Tuesdays went up. After midnight, evening and late night saw the most crime last week.
