Crime reports in Rockville saw an overall decrease last month, for the second month in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.

Incidents fell by 2.6 percent, from 231 in December to 225 in January. Crime trends are often seasonal, and some of the most common offenses tend to decline in winter, which might partly explain the most recent downward trend.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, theft reports went from 59 to 64. Robbery incidents rose from zero to two and burglary incidents went up from eight to nine.

When it comes to crime patterns in different areas of the city, King Farm, Fallsgrove and Monroe Lynfield saw the largest decline from December to January.
