The number of crime incidents in Rockville remained largely the same last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose slightly to 54 for the week of Feb. 4, up from 51 the week before.

Vandalism and burglary led the increase in crime reports. Vandalism rose to six incidents last week, from two the week before. Burglary went from one to four.

There were six reported assault incidents last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week. There were also 12 incidents of theft.

There were 26 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of three from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, four involved arrests, such as for drug possession, down from seven reported arrests the week before.

As far as where crime is concentrated in the city, Town Center, Twinbrook, and Croydon Park had the most reported incidents last week. Town Center and Twinbrook were at the top of the list the previous week as well.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays produced the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, while incidents on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays went down. Comparing times of day, after midnight, early morning, and late night continue to see the most crime incidents.
