Burger fans, take heed: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. Located at 821 W. First St. in Uptown, the new addition is called Community Matters Cafe.
Community Matters Cafe specializes in coffee, breakfast and lunch. The cafe was built in a 100-year-old warehouse building with the help of Charlotte Rescue Mission, a nonprofit serving people impacted by addiction. The new spot also offers "coffee roasted on site, pastries and bread made in-house," per their Facebook page.
The new addition has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Michele M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 11, wrote, “Well they exceeded our expectations in every way! Kudos to Community Matters Cafe, for their mission in helping others while serving delicious food in a cool setting right down the hill from the Panthers Stadium! Ample parking and outdoor seating too.”
And Dave M. wrote, "This cafe is fantastic! The people, service and food here are top notch and it's all with a great mission at heart. No shortage of seating with a large dining room, plenty of room to lounge around the cafe and a great patio. Their menu is not littered with excessive options for meals and you can tell there is a lot of care put into everything they're doing."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Community Matters Cafe is open from 6:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m.–1 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
