Avengers: Endgame

After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

With a Tomatometer Score of 94 percent and an Audience Score of 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Avengers: Endgame" has garnered plenty of praise since its release on April 26. The Observer's Oliver Jones said, "What you will be getting when you walk into an inevitably overstuffed movie theater is something singular that reflects our age in a way that none of the MCU films that preceded it have-indeed, very few Hollywood spectacles ever have," while Matthew Lickona of the San Diego Reader noted, "The MCU will go on and on, but this chapter - and the American pragmatism vs. American ideals bromance that drove it - have well and truly come to their "Excelsior! Nuff said!" moment."

It's screening at ShowPlace ICON at Seaport with ICON•X (60 Seaport Blvd.) and AMC Boston Common 19 (175 Tremont St.) through Wednesday, June 12. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu

In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (Pokémon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.

With a Tomatometer Score of 66 percent and an Audience Score of 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Pokémon Detective Pikachu" is well worth a watch.

"Detective Pikachu is unrelentingly weird," according to Daniel Kaszor of the Globe and Mail, while NPR's Vincent Acovino said, "There's something admirable about a film that isn't afraid to have some fun with a property so established - and beloved - by its core audience."

You can catch it at Regal Fenway & RPX (201 Brookline Ave.) through Thursday, June 13; and AMC Boston Common 19 (175 Tremont St.) through Wednesday, June 12. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

What happens with our pets when we’re not home? This movie continues the original movie with Max and his friends.

Set to be released on Friday, June 7, "The Secret Life of Pets 2" already has a Tomatometer Score of 61 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

"At least people will laugh with this film because it perfectly draws its humor from the tendencies of cats and dogs, from a cat's magnetic desire to knock over objects to a dog's natural instinct to chase a ball at any cost," noted Samantha Incorvaia of Arizona Republic, while the New York Times's Bilge Ebiri said, "Too scattered narratively to cohere, and yet somehow still funny enough to justify its existence, "The Secret Life of Pets 2" makes for an entertaining trifle."

Catch it on the big screen at ShowPlace ICON at Seaport with ICON•X (60 Seaport Blvd.) through Wednesday, June 12; Regal Fenway & RPX (201 Brookline Ave.) through Thursday, June 13; AMC South Bay Center 12 (95 Allstate Road) through Wednesday, June 12; and AMC Boston Common 19 (175 Tremont St.) through Wednesday, June 12.
