Cafe Okawari brings katsu sandos and other Japanese lunch fare to SoMaPhoto: Katie M./Yelp

Hungry? A new neighborhood lunch spot specializing in Japanese fare has you covered. The new arrival, Cafe Okawari, is located at 236 Townsend St. in SoMa, in the space formerly occupied by Durso Cafe & Juice Bar.

On the menu, look for a chicken katsu sando (fried chicken on soft white bread with cabbage and mayo), or onsen tamago, a rice bowl with a poached egg, raw tuna and green onions.

There's also a house salad (to which you can add salmon, tuna sashimi or panko-fried chicken), and chirashi bowls with raw fish or vegetables served over rice. Drink options include a matcha latte, pea flower matcha lemonade, cold brew coffee and housemade sodas.

With a four-star rating out of 17 reviews on Yelp so far, Cafe Okawari seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Rohit K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 14, wrote, "A friend has been here a few times and was positively raving about their chicken katsu sando. After having the sando for lunch today, I certainly share his sentiments that it's awesome."

And Yelper Mike L. wrote, "Their white, minimalist, Instagram-esque look is nice, but it's really the food I'm talking about. Their menu may not be super extensive, but there aren't a ton of places nearby that have anything like what Cafe Okawari has to offer."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Cafe Okawari is open from 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
