Quicky Burgers and Shakes (4092 18th St.) is now giving Castro locals another option to quickly satisfy their appetite.
The new eatery comes from Onur "Oz" Ozkynak, who also owns nearby Oz Pizza (508 Castro St.) Last year, Ozkynak announced plans to open a burger joint in the space previously home to Chocolate Chair.
Though he initially hoped to open the restaurant by January, Ozkynak ran into delays with utility upgrades from PG&E. He says he's happy to finally have the doors open.
The restaurant's cheeky name and slogan ("Where the Meat Meets the Bun") reflect its counter-service design and simple menu: five types of burgers (including a vegan option), a chicken sandwich, a hot dog and chicken wings. Fries, fountain drinks and shakes are also available.
The signature Oz Burger ($12.50) comes with two 4-ounce Harris Ranch beef patties, cheese, bacon, grilled onions, mushrooms and special Quicky sauce.
One item that Quicky does not serve is alcohol. Ozkynak tells Hoodline that he's still considering whether or not to apply for a liquor license, as he expects to draw a late-night crowd from the nearby bars.
Quicky will be open late seven days a week: Sunday-Wednesday from 11 a.m.-12:30 a.m., and Thursday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 a.m.
