The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

Here's your SF events calendar for Friday, April 10. Play a card game with others online, join a Good Friday service, or attend mixology school and learn how to make cocktails — all from the comfort of your couch.

Magic: The Gathering with Play At Home Friday Night Magic

Play Magic: The Gathering, a digital card game, tonight with the help of Divisadero Street legacy business Gamescape. While the store usually hosts game nights at their physical location, during shelter-in-place game nights take place online. On Friday, connect with Gamescape's online community, build a 60-card brawl deck with standard and historic cards, and then battle.

Good Friday: Online live stream

Join Grace Cathedral for their Good Friday service, which will be streamed online this year. Grace Cathedral’s tradition is to hear the gospel chanted by the choir to the ancient tones of the St. John Passion, followed by an offering of prayers for the needs of the world and a meditation on the cross.

Interview and live wine tasting

Amelie wine bar on Polk Street invites the public to a free live tasting and interview session on Zoom with Matias Fraga from Maal Wines in Argentina. Fraga will talk about the Mendoza wine region, and tell you everything you want to know about the Malbec grape. The winemaker will take questions from attendees live.

A mixology class offered by Bay Area Bartenders offers another opportunity to learn some new skills. The school will offer a 30 minute long sneak peek of its in-person classes. Learn how to make unique cocktails, and hear about some tricks bartenders use to make their drinks tasty and appealing to the eye.

The History of SF's Civic Center with James Haas

Join one of Manny's Super Civic Conversations, this time about the rich history of San Francisco's Civic Center. What was the Civic Center like during its early days? How did it come to be what it is now? Listen to James Haas, now retired, who invested 35 years into the restoration and completion of the Civic Center starting with the new main library in 1984, and was appointed by Mayor Gavin Newsom to the City Hall Preservation Advisory Commission.
