2020 Virtual Children's Day Festival

While the annual Children’s Day Festival in Japantown's Peace Plaza was canceled due to shelter-in-place restrictions, the organizers are hosting a two-hour virtual festival on Saturday afternoon. The program will include both live and pre-recorded content for families, including cultural performances, music and storybook readings.

Saturday Stitch-In

Get out your embroidery project and tune in to this "stitch-in" hosted by the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design. During this two-hour session, instructors will be ready to chat about needlework, answer questions and help you achieve all of your shelter-in-place stitching ambitions.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Live!

SoMa nightclub Oasis is well-known for its drag-parody stagings of popular television shows, with live recreations of episodes of everything from "Sex and the City" to "The Golden Girls." On Saturday night, they'll broadcast a pre-recorded drag send-up of beloved '90s series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," followed by a live chat with the actors about how it was put together.

Mother's Day Sunday Celebration

This Sunday, the Tenderloin's Glide Church will host its annual celebration of mothers. Submit an image of your mother, people who identify as mothers, historical mothers and mothers of movements, so attendees can celebrate them together online.

San Francisco Native Plant Garden Tour

Tour 14 local gardens and three public gardens during this livestreamed event, hosted by the San Francisco and Northern San Mateo County chapter of the California Native Plant Society. Local gardeners will discuss how they brought a little bit of the wild into the city's urban landscape, and how you can incorporate native plants into your home garden.
