The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

Here's your SF event calendar for Tuesday, May 5. Join Cinco de Mayo-themed events, tune in to a performance of Golden Gate Park-themed songs or join a poetry and cocktail hour — all from the comfort of your couch.

Golden Gate Park, An A to Z Adventure

Join author Marta Lindsey and illustrator Michael Wertz for an online celebration of the park and the release of their new book, Golden Gate Park, An A to Z Adventure. Expect a special greeting from Phil Ginsburg, head of SF Rec & Park, a reading of the book, a performance of Golden Gate Park-themed songs and a mini drawing lesson with Michael Wertz.

Poetry & Cocktails with Tess Taylor & Daniel Handler

Join Green Apple Books for a Zoom poetry and cocktail hour with Tess Taylor and Daniel Handler. The two will discuss Taylor's new collection, "Rift Zone," as well as reading and recommending some of their favorite poets. Handler will also demonstrate how to make the "Rift Zone Cocktail." Mix your own at home with gin, Poppy Liqueur and a little white wine, served up with lemon.

Mutts and Margaritas

For Cinco de Mayo, join Muttville Senior Dog Rescue for "Mutts and Margaritas", a happy hour hosted on Instagram Live. Celebrity chef Ryan Scott (Today Show), also known as the "Margarita Maestro", will prepare a drink. Grab that summer outfit out of your newly organized closet and sip some tequila with him, along with some of San Francisco's very good dogs (and people).

Take Me To Tequila - Virtual Cinco de Mayo
