Hayes Valley/Western Addition crime: Man assaulted in Alamo Square, items stolen from garages, more

Here's a selection of notable crime reports from Hayes Valley and the Western Addition since our last crime roundup in early April. All reports were provided by SFPD, unless otherwise noted.

Tools taken in garage break-in

On April 30, around 12:02 a.m., an unknown suspect entered the garage of a 70-year-old man on the 2100 block of California Street (between Laguna and Buchanan) and st some tools. The victim was home during the incident. No arrest has been made.

Police recover shell casings after shooting

A day earlier, on April 29, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Octavia Boulevard (between Rose and Market) at 7:52 p.m. Officers found shell casings and fragments on the ground. No injuries were reported and no arrest was made.

Man assaulted in Alamo Square Park

On April 18 at 6:22 p.m., a 56-year-old man approached and assaulted a 51-year-old man in Alamo Square Park and then fled the scene. Police arrived, located the suspect and arrested him. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries from the encounter and was transported to a hospital.

Woman attacked with knife during argument

A 40-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries when she was cut with a knife by a 52-year-old woman after they got into a verbal argument on the 1100 block of Scott Street (between Turk and Eddy). Police arrived and arrested the older woman. The younger woman was transported to a hospital. The incident occurred on April 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Bicycles stolen in garage hot prowl

On April 6, an unidentified suspect entered a garage on the 1500 block of Golden Gate Avenue (between Pierce and Scott) and stole bicycles while a 63-year-old man was home. No arrest has been made.
