San Francisco-based doggies up for adoption

Mia is a female husky mix being cared for at Welcome Home Sanctuary.

Mia will get along great with your other dogs. Her ideal forever home would be cat-free. She's mastered her house-training etiquette and is vaccinated.

From Mia's current caretaker:

Mia is super sweet, friendly and beautiful. She gets compliments from strangers and friends alike! She's well-mannered in the house and is happy to curl up on a rug or dog bed nearby while you work or watch TV. She's a champion napper, kid lover and quiet dog. Mia sleeps soundly through the night on her own bed. She is polite and has pretty good impulse control, so never tries to get on our furniture except our bed and never steals our food.

Rory is a sweet male chihuahua and papillon mix currently housed at Grateful Dogs Rescue.

Rory gets along well with cats and dogs. Rory would prefer a home without small children. He's mastered his house-training etiquette, is neutered and has had all his shots. Rory is a special needs pet, so please inquire about his specific care requirements.

Here's what Rory's friends at Grateful Dogs Rescue think of him:

Rory will alternate between sleeping with his foster parents and sleeping in his crate. Rory enjoys walks. He's a slow walker, so do not expect to get your cardio when walking Rory. He also won't go much more than a mile. Rory enjoys going on errands and car rides make him very happy. Rory dances whenever he sees the leashes coming out. Rory happily lives with a pack of little dogs. He is a bit fearful of larger dogs, but warms up. His quirks need to be managed, but Rory is responsive to positive reinforcement. He's a wonderful dog that just needs a special person.

Maple is a female mixed breed dog currently housed at Love Dogs Rescue and Foundation Inc.

Maple is already spayed and has had all her shots.

She is very sweet and loving, and is playful and extremely attached once she gets to know you. Maple spent a long time living on the streets as a stray, so she is getting used to being safe in a home. Maple can be very shy and timid when she is out in the world, but is slowly learning to be bolder. Maple will definitely require patience and time, but we think this sweet, gentle girl will become a devoted, loving and confident dog.

Hayes is a darling male Siberian husky dog staying at Welcome Home Sanctuary.

Hayes loves other dogs, but is looking for cat-free family. Fear not: He's already house-trained.

From Hayes' current caretaker:

Hayes is amazingly calm for a Siberian Husky. He's a loving, easygoing, medium-energy guy who loves children, long walks, park time and runs. He has good leash skills, is friendly with all dogs and gets attached to his person. Hayes knows some tricks, like paw, high five and sit; he's also gentle and polite. He will do well with a family that's active and will take him on long walks, go to dog parks, on hikes and running. He may be calm, but he's no couch potato.

Potato is a male chihuahua mix being kept at Family Dog Rescue.

He's already been neutered.

Potato's current caretakers say:

Potato is a sensitive boy who does not fancy strangers. He hates sudden movements but loves to be treated like a little baby. He gets a bit protective at first but opens up to faces he recognizes. Potato is a lump of love who will wag his little tail when he gets comfortable around people and is okay with being handled. Potato is an older pup and enjoys his alone time. He does not like being harassed by crazy puppies. He likes to take his daily naps in a preferred sunny patch. Potato is looking for the right home that will give him all the love he needs to thrive.
