The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

District 10 Reopening Webinar

Join the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) for a discussion about the latest updates regarding reopening in San Francisco. Learn how the pandemic affects businesses, nonprofits, and workers alike. Both District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton and OEWD director Joaquin Torres will join the conversation. There will also be a chance for participants to ask questions.

Westside San Francisco: Golden Gate Park, The Sunset, Richmond

Western San Francisco neighborhoods were once known as "The Great Sand Waste," for its miles of sand dunes it was thought would never be developed. During this event, learn about how that changed.

Hear how Golden Gate Park was built, and how many people thought it was impossible. Also learn about the Sunset and the Richmond, and learn what changed the fate of Sutro Baths.

Online Monday "Castanets" for Sevillanas for All Levels

Then, joined Mission-based Theatre Flamenco for its online dance school. Get to know castanets, a percussion instrument. Learn playing techniques, and discover how they are used for Sevillanas, a folk dance. All levels are welcome to participate.

Drama with Friends: Jonathan Luskin

Later in the evening, join as a group reads three short, thoughtful and humorous plays by Jonathan Luskin. Luskin is the producer, director and co-founder of San Francisco-based video production company Flying Moose Pictures. His plays have been read at theaters around the state.

The playwright will join the session for the reading and a discussion afterward.

Holistic Reset— Free New Moon Sound Meditation

Finally, welcome the new moon with a sound meditation. This experience is designed to bring you a full reset, a place of stillness from which you can create anew.

Join for a soothing sound journey with the community. This sound experience hopes to leave you inspired, refreshed and full of hope. Lie down, turn off your phone, close your eyes and be still.
