The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

Songwriting for Young Change Makers with Alphabet Rockers

Tune in as Oakland-based, Grammy-nominated hip-hop children's music collective Alphabet Rockers invites young artists to build their skills to make music dreams come alive. Have a song in your head that you want to put to music? Ever wanted to learn how to beatbox? This is your chance.

Art Class for Youth by Nancypili

Join an art class for youth with local muralist Nancypili, one of the "artivists" who dropped the RESIST banner above the White House. Participants will learn to make protest signs using recycled and compostable materials easily found at home.

Meet Team Biden: National Coalitions Director Ashley Allison

Then, hear from Team Biden's coalitions director Ashley Allison. She is responsible for building national bridges for Biden, bringing together constituencies, movements, communities, and groups who need to connect to help elect Joe Biden to the presidency.

Virtual Screening: Dear Homeland

In the evening, watch Dear Homeland, a new documentary about formerly undocumented singer-songwriter Diana Gameros, her music, and her journey home. Join for the virtual screening of the KQED-produced documentary by award-winning Colombian documentary filmmaker Claudia Escobar.

Later, tune in as Glide minister of celebration Marvin K. White explores and theorizes on the digitized new realities of sheltering-in-place and social distancing. Through poetry, prose, conversation and public theologies, White invites participants to reimagine what it means to operate during systemic racism and COVID-19.
