How long has it been since you’ve attended an event with an open bar? In your post-pandemic bleariness, it probably seems like since high school. But both high school and open bar return in a combined Pride Weekend kickoff concept, as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are hosting a Pride prom under the Westfield San Francisco Centre's historic dome Friday night.
"Get ready to be transported back in time to your high school gymnasium and relive nostalgic moments of Prom,” the Sisters say in their Facebook event announcement. “DJ, dancing, games, photo moments, drinks & bites inspired by cafeteria food (with a high-end twist) – a portion of proceeds will go to benefit the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.”
Since the official SF Pride is a series of smaller in-person events for 2021, this unofficial event is consistent with the ethos of breaking Pride celebrants into smaller groups. A Friday night event would typically overlap with the Trans March, but this year it does not, given the Trans March’s in person and virtual event schedule for Friday will be largely wrapped up by Pride prom’s 6 p.m. start time.
While tickets are listed on Facebook at $20-$30, Hoodline was only able to find $20 tickets on the Eventbrite site. But even the $20 tickets do promise “21+ Event, Open Bar.”
PROM – A Pride celebration with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, is Friday, June 25, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Westfield San Francisco Centre Historic Dome, 865 Market St. Tickets HERE
